Supervisors vote to give power
to Entertainment Commission

This afternoon, the Board of Supervisors unanimously passed an ordinance granting the Entertainment Commission the power to revoke the permits of establishments which are a public nuisance or a threat to public safety.

It's a step in the right direction. Now let's hope they use it proactively to reduce the number of clubs in the Central District.

From North Beach Reporter:
How will the EC deal with such an incident? I always thought that such incidents, which cannot clearly be linked to one particular club, will not find the EC's ear as they will argue that they cannot punish a particular club for violence in the street.

And as this kind of violence (and the quality-of-life infractions) are most common in our area, I very much doubt that the EC will/can suspend licenses over such fights.

Any thoughts about this, or is this really the Achilles heel of the legislation?

And how does the EC (and/or the Board) define a "public nuisance or a threat to public safety" ... For lessees on public lands, the punishment is revokation of the very livelihood ... see Jelly's at Pier 50 on Port property.
